USU Receives Benchmarking Visit from Universitas Negeri Malang to Strengthen Governance and Information Systems

 Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a benchmarking visit from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, held in the Equity Room WR III, USU Rectorate Building. This activity is part of the effort by both institutions to strengthen academic cooperation, improve governance, and adopt best practices in data and information system management.

The visit was attended by the leadership ranks, expert staff, and technical teams from both universities. USU warmly welcomed the Universitas Negeri Malang delegation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions in strengthening the foundation of university management that is modern, effective, and quality-oriented.

In their remarks, the USU representative stated that the exchange of ideas and experiences through benchmarking activities like this is a strategic step for universities to face the dynamics of information technology development and public accountability demands.

“USU continues to be committed to building integrated, transparent, and sustainable data governance. The presence of Universitas Negeri Malang provides an opportunity to learn from each other, inspire one another, and discover new collaboration spaces beneficial for both parties,” said the USU leadership representative.

During the discussion session, both universities shared experiences regarding challenges and successes in building information systems adaptive to technological developments. Universitas Negeri Malang presented several data management practices implemented on their campus, while USU explained various innovations currently being developed to improve information system integration across all faculties and work units.

Additionally, the Q&A session was dynamic, involving the exchange of ideas regarding effective governance models, standard operating procedures in data management, and the utilization of technology to improve the quality of academic and non-academic services.

This activity not only strengthens institutional relations but also opens new cooperation opportunities in research, application development, and human resource capacity-building programs.

At the end of the meeting, both universities expressed a commitment to maintaining sustainable collaboration and exploring more concrete follow-ups, including the possibility of joint programs in information system development, training, or collaborative research projects.
