USU Holds 73rd Anniversary Open Session with the Theme "Collaborative Innovation, Impacting All"

MEDAN – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) will hold the 73rd Anniversary (Dies Natalis) Open Session at the Universitas Sumatera Utara Auditorium. The peak of this celebration is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, starting promptly at 08:00 WIB until completion.

This annual celebration not only marks USU's maturing age but also serves as a strategic platform to reaffirm USU's commitment to implementing the vision of "Collaborative Innovation, Impacting All." This theme reflects the university's ambition to produce innovative works that tangibly provide positive and widespread contributions to society and national development.

The 73rd Anniversary Open Session will be attended by key figures from various sectors, demonstrating the depth of synergy between USU and external parties:

  • The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., will open the series of events with official remarks.
  • Full support from the regional government is marked by the presence of the Governor of North Sumatra, Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, S.E., M.M., who will also deliver official remarks.
  • Representation from the Board of Trustees (MWA) and the professional sector is provided by Police General (Ret.) Sutarman Lubis, S.H., M.H., who is the President Commissioner of PT. Hutama Karya (Persero) as well as a Member of the USU Board of Trustees for the 2020-2025 Period, who will also give official remarks.
  • Insights from partner higher education institutions will be enriched by official remarks from Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology at ITB.

The academic focal point of this celebration is the Scientific Oration to be delivered by Dr. Julia Niniek Dinyanti Lubis, PGDip/PhD in Medical Parasitology. Dr. Julia is a researcher and Expert Staff from USU and Southeast Asia on Infectious Disease Universities Sumatera Utara, and serves as a Member of the USU Board of Trustees for the 2020-2025 Period.

This scientific oration is expected to shed light on USU's strategic role in solving health problems through infection and disease research, while underscoring the importance of applied research that can provide an impact for all, in accordance with the Anniversary theme.
