The Directorate of Digitalization and System Integration of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Technical Guidance on Google Scholar and Lecturer Profiles Synchronization in September 2024 at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology. This activity was held to increase the visibility of the Universitas Sumatera Utara in the Webometrics ranking by optimizing the academic profiles of lecturers at various levels of education.

This technical guidance occurred in several sessions according to each study program. For the undergraduate in computer science and information technology study programs, the activities were held on Monday, 23 September 2024 and 30 September 2024, in the meeting room of the undergraduate in computer science. The session for the master program in data science and artificial intelligence (DSAI) was held on Friday, 27 September 2024, in the master of DSAI seminar room. Meanwhile, the Doctoral in Computer Science also held the same activity on Friday, 27 September 2024, at the Meeting Room of the Doctoral in Computer Science.

Several important Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology figures attended the event. Present at the event was Vice Dean I, Dr. Mohammad Andri Budiman, S.T., M.Comp.Sc., M.E.M., who delivered his remarks regarding the importance of synchronizing the academic profiles of lecturers to support the improvement of the university's reputation. In addition, the Head of the Undergraduate in Computer Science Study Program, Dr Amalia S.T., M.T., Secretary of the Undergraduate in Computer Science Study Program, Sri Melvani Hardi, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Head of the Master in Informatics Engineering Study Program, Dr Eng. Ade Candra S.T., M.Kom. The participants, mostly Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology lecturers, were enthusiastic to participate in this series of events. They actively discussed publication management strategies, the importance of maintaining research quality, and how to maximize the features in Google Scholar.

This activity aims to ensure that each lecturer has a well-synchronized Google Scholar profile that meets the standards required to support the university's visibility at national and international levels. This is an important part of the university's strategy to improve its Webometrics ranking, which assesses the visibility and impact of web content from higher education institutions worldwide.

The event went smoothly, and the participants received hands-on guidance on updating and managing their Google Scholar profiles. With this activity, the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology of the Universitas Sumatera Utara can continue to contribute to improving the academic reputation of the Universitas Sumatera Utara in the global arena.
