MEDAN – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Directorate of Digitalization and System Integration (DITGRASI), firmly reminds the entire academic community regarding the importance of maintaining the security of their respective digital accounts. This reminder is issued as a directive to perform system password updates routinely and periodically.

DITGRASI emphasizes that this step is not merely an inconvenient procedure, but a fundamental effort to secure personal and institutional data from potential cyber threats.

DITGRASI urges users not only to change their passwords but also to ensure that the newly created passwords possess a high level of security. Guidelines for creating a strong password include:

  • Using a combination of letters (uppercase and lowercase).
  • Using numbers.
  • Using symbols.

This advisory aligns with various other cybersecurity measures implemented by USU, such as the recommendation to use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and the mandate to use officially licensed software. Through consistency in updating passwords, USU hopes to minimize the risk of data leaks and cyber threats, thereby creating a secure and professional digital environment for the entire academic community.
