MEDAN – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Directorate of Digitalization and System Integration (DITGRASI), shares "5 Smart Tech Tips for the Academic Community." These tips aim to ensure that digital activities within the campus environment remain secure, efficient, and professional.

To foster a secure digital culture, DITGRASI emphasizes that while technology simplifies tasks, it also carries risks if not used wisely.

Here is a summary of the 5 essential tips:

  1. Activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): To prevent unauthorized access, protect your email accounts, information systems, and other digital platforms with two-step verification.
  2. Use Official & Legal Software: Avoid pirated software. Besides being illegal, unofficial software is vulnerable to malware and can steal important data.
  3. Routinely Backup Important Data: Periodically save copies of critical documents (theses, reports, research data) to the cloud and external hard drives.
  4. Beware of Phishing & Scams: Do not carelessly click links from suspicious emails or messages. Always check the sender's address and ensure the information source is trusted.
  5. Use the Official USU Network: When accessing academic or administrative systems, use the secure campus network to prevent data interception.

These tips are part of DITGRASI's efforts to realize a #SmartCampus and #TransformasiDigital at USU.
